Naomi Soto is a Peruvian-American photographer based in Boston, Massachusetts. Her work emerges from self-observation and her relationship with her environment, exploring identity, memory, and perception. Following her intuition, inspired by her poems, she moves seamlessly between carefully staged scenes and spontaneous moments, seeking answers to the questions her work raises. Her images invite viewers to participate in their own act of looking.
Before turning fully to photography, she earned a dual Master’s degree in Business Administration and Information Systems from Boston University, and built a career in consulting and education. During her transition into teaching and motherhood, she returned to photography as a means of self-discovery and to move beyond the analytical frameworks of her earlier training. She began to explore her surroundings as a reflection of what we carry within us.
Her work has been exhibited in group shows across the United States, Mexico, and Peru, and featured in publications and online platforms highlighting women in fine art and street photography. She was selected for Femgrafia’s inaugural online residency in 2022 and is included in its Index of Photographers. She subsequently completed the Specialization Program in Photographic Language at the Centro de la Imagen de Lima.
