On Both Sides of the Glass
This ongoing project explores life unfolding in front of and behind windows across cities like Boston, Lima, Cozumel, and Lisbon. During a gray winter in Lima, I noticed windows behaved differently than they do in sunnier places. Instead of mainly seeing the street outside, I could also see through the glass. I became fascinated by the many complex layers captured in the resulting images. In these photographs, separate moments briefly share the same frame and form a portal between realities. A gesture behind the glass collides with a passing reflection outside, while people move through their lives unaware of each other. What we choose to see on both sides of the glass takes on a specific meaning for each of us.
